Customer Service Certification Policies and Procedures

Eligibility

Customer Service Certification is an open enrollment. Completion of a High School diploma or GED is required for the course. Students are expected to have sufficient English language skills to complete course work to fully benefit from the course materials.

How to Apply

Prospective students will be required to complete an application form from Career Institute or by their program sponsor. Click here to fill out the form.

Prerequisites

You may be requested to provide your thoughts on how this class will be beneficial to you and why you are a good candidate. Students are required to complete an assessment before acceptance into the course.

Format of Instruction

The class size will be an average of 8-10 students. For each class session, you will be provided a workbook, which needs to be filled in and completed, as well as a practice assessment at the end of each class. There will also be 2 small field trips, one to a nearby mall and the other to a local business.  This will give you real life interaction with customer service.

Schedules

A schedule for course completion will be provided to each student following acceptance. The schedule will have some flexibility to accommodate each student's needs as much as possible. However, once set, the student will be expected to attend all classes. In the event that a class is missed due to an emergency, students must communicate with their instructor and set a date where they can make up the class.

Tuition

The cost of the class is $200.  This includes workbooks and completion test. Please note that additional charges will apply if a re-test is necessary.

Refunds

A participant may only cancel 2 days before the first scheduled class and receive a full refund. Failure to cancel before the two days, or after you have attended a class, will be a forfeiture of your money.  Your grade will be listed as Incomplete.

Grading

The proctored completion test which is given by the National Retail Federation is based on a Pass/ No Pass basis. It is a 90 minute timed test with a series of 75 multiple choice questions. Upon completion of the test you will be notified whether you passed or not.  If you have passed the test, your Customer Service certificate will be mailed to our office; and we will then distribute it to you.

Students with Disabilities

Students that have a disability must notify the instructor 30 days prior to entering the class so the instructor may request to double your test taking time.   The instructor must also have a current copy of your IEP to submit for special accommodations.

Repeat Course Policy

If student fails to pass the first exam, he/she has the option to re-take the course using their own workbooks from previous class.
