"My name is Michael Lagatta and I am from Yermo, California. I live with my mother who raised me by herself. Yermo is a very small town. I graduated from Calico High School. I enjoy physical fitness and working out. My greatest joy in life is being a father of a young daughter. I like caring for her. I intend to go to college in correctional science to become a police officer. I enjoy working here at PG& E as it gives me work experience, I’m earning money and learning how to be a better father and employee."
"My name is Daniel Gallardo, I'm 19 years old, and I grew up in Barstow, California. When I am older, I want to own a tire shop. I applied for this program because I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to get work experience. In the future, I would like to take classes in both business as well as automotive, so that I would be better prepared to own my own tire shop."
Michael Minges began with the Career Institute through our Hinkley Worksite Training program located in Hinkley, CA. Michael worked under the direct supervision of Wayne Blevins, and trained under Career Institute from January 2014 through March 2015. Michael also completed the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program through our Barstow office. During that time he learned about resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews. In April 2015, Michael was hired by a local contractor in Hinkley where he assists electricians in wiring and pulling electrical wire. He assembled structures for electrical boxes, including piping for wire.
Michael said, “Career Institute got my foot in the door with job experience, and with hard work and a good attitude I acquired some awesome references.” Michael wants to thank CI for their training program, and is especially thankful for his supervisor, Wayne Blevins, for believing in him and being a great boss and awesome friend. Congratulations Michael!
"My name is Cory Garcia, and I am 18 years old and new to the world of work. I live in Hinkley, California and have all of my life. I applied for this program in hopes of a job opportunity to come after I am finished with it. The ideas and goals of the program matched mine, and I think it will help me gain experience and get my foot in the door of the work world. I'm very thankful to be in the program, and to see what it has to offer. I'm hoping it will help me, and one day I would like to become an engineer."
