Programs and Services

WIOA Program (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)

Ongoing enrollment for the WIOA program starts each July for young adults ages 18 to 24. This is a grant/scholarship opportunity provided to young adults who have completed high school, and have faced or are facing certain challenges or obstacles in their lives which may be preventing them from moving forward into the world of education and/or a career. A series of short, certificated courses are provided, and one longer, job-related class.  Students receive stipends for completing courses and homework projects.  There are paid and unpaid work experience opportunities available locally after completing courses and passing final exams. Students are accepted based on qualifying "barriers" and motivation/dedication to overcoming challenges. Call the center to make an appointment for an interview. Click here for WIOA resources. As part of the WIOA program you will learn life skills, finance management, customer service skills and how to get and keep an amazing job!

Meet some of our inspiring success stories!

Shane Huffman

Shane Huffman is an extraordinary, driven young man.  At the age of 18 he found himself without an education, unable to read or write.  He sought out tutoring, and found the Career Institute.  He was immediately determined to learn, and was enrolled in a High School program.  He is on track to graduate soon as a straight A student.  He has an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and completely absorbs everything he learns.  His goal after graduation is to become a Registered Nurse, and we know he will be successful!

Symphony Craver

Symphony Craver heard about the Career Institute at Montclair High school during her senior year, when one of her teachers recommended the Hospitality program to her. The Career Institute taught her the skills she’d need to begin her work experience in the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center, such as time management. Symphony said, “One of my greatest obstacles was having to take the city bus from Fontana to Pomona.”  The Career Institute has helped Symphony get into college. She is currently attending Chaffey Community College, pursuing her dream to become a police officer.  “The Career Institute has helped me get into college and to be a better person. They have taught me how to talk in interviews and how to dress appropriately. The CI has overall just made me a stronger person.” – Symphony Craver
