Ongoing enrollment for the WIOA program starts each July for young adults ages 18 to 24. This is a grant/scholarship opportunity provided to young adults who have completed high school, and have faced or are facing certain challenges or obstacles in their lives which may be preventing them from moving forward into the world of education and/or a career. Symphony Craver heard about the Career Institute at Montclair High school during her senior year, when one of her teachers recommended the Hospitality program to her. The Career Institute taught her the skills she’d need to begin her work experience in the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center, such as time management. Symphony said, “One of my greatest obstacles was having to take the city bus from Fontana to Pomona.” The Career Institute has helped Symphony get into college. She is currently attending Chaffey Community College, pursuing her dream to become a police officer. “The Career Institute has helped me get into college and to be a better person. They have taught me how to talk in interviews and how to dress appropriately. The CI has overall just made me a stronger person.” – Symphony Craver
